Welcome to Downtown Dani!

Hi there, and welcome to my blog! I am so excited you have decided to join me on this journey and I hope to be a great resource to you!

This blog is something I have thought about doing for a long time now…seriously years(!!) but there has always been something that stopped me…usually my insecurities. “Do people care what I have to say? Will people like what I share? I’m not a great writer. I’m not a size small. I live on a budget. There are so many girls way ahead of me. I don’t want to be that vulnerable. What if I fail?” The list could go on and on, but no point on wasting any more thought or energy on that kind of negativity!

This year, as I entered the heart of my late twenties, I decided to put all of those insecurities (and let’s be real…excuses) aside, step outside of my comfort zone and DO THE DANG THING!

One of the main reasons I was hesitant for so long, but also a huge reason that really pushed me to do this blog was because of my size. I am not plus size but I am not super thin. I feel like there is a huge miss – or in my case, opportunity – for those who find themselves “in-between.” I am a little over 5’8″ and even at my thinnest, I have always rocked the thunder thighs, had a fairly large chest and a booty. I’ve also inherited unusually large calves from my dad’s side of the family. Rather than continuing to have these hinder me, I wanted to take this opportunity to be a resource to those of you who may have similar features. Accommodating for 34DDD can be challenging! Trust me, I get it! Finding skirts and dresses that are long enough for you to be comfortable – been there! Finding CUTE wide-calf boots – I’ve done the research! I want you to feel BEAUTIFUL in the body that God has blessed you with – no matter what shape or size that may be. Let’s celebrate and complement our uniqueness! I know how great and confident I feel when I put on a new outfit – and I want you to rock that same confidence!

A little more about the blog…

Why the name “Downtown Dani”? Two reasons. First, I love a good alliteration. Second, I love what the word “Downtown” represents. I’m always drawn to the downtown areas of the city. Many times it’s in the heart of the city, full of culture, history, excitement, and life! It tends to be the home to many shops and restaurants, hidden gems, treasures, and city favorites. I hope for my blog to have the same appeal, where you can locate those great finds and hidden gems, learn my favorites and possibly find some of your new favorites too.

What you can expect – I plan to post 2-3 times a week, with posts typically during the week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. This will be a lifestyle blog. I’ll be sharing my favorite shopping finds, trends that I am obsessing over, beauty tips, hacks, and tutorials, some of my favorite recipes, anything else I am loving…and of course SALES!

And seriously – I mean it when I say sales! My hubby and I are very budget conscious and I have to make sure my wardrobe doesn’t break the bank. I can’t resist a great sale, wallet-friendly finds, and will definitely make sure you guys are in on the action!

I am so excited to finally get this going!! As I mentioned this is something I have thought about for a long time and there is no better time than the present. And of course, as I will only promote positivity and encouragement on my blog and in my posts, I ask that you have the same respect in return.
