You guys…Christmas is in 3 days! Can you believe it? Things are in full swing this weekend with Christmas parties, going to look at Christmas lights…and of course, a little Christmas baking!
This recipe is a tradition that I started a few years back and is a GREAT treat to bring to a party, give to party guests or co-workers. You can wrap it up nicely and it makes a very inexpensive, delicious, and EASY gift! Now, who isn’t on board with that?
Like I said, this is simple, I promise! I am proud to say that my baking/cooking has improved over the years but when I made this for the first time I was very unskilled in the kitchen. I am telling you, kids could make this!
There are only four ingredients and a few steps to make this magic happen! The recipe is below!
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 1/2 Cups of Dark Chocolate (I usually just get the dark chocolate chips. They only had extra dark chocolate at the store most recently so I did 3/4 of that and 1/2 of semi sweet and it tastes the same!!)
- 16 Oreos (plain Oreos but I love when they have the colored ones so it’s even MORE festive!! I would recommend getting the regular, and not the thin. Also – just be safe and get the whole pack that way you can always have more to add if needed)
- 2 Cups of White Chocolate Candy
- 3/4 cups Crushed Candy Cane (This usually totals out to 9 full-size candy canes)
DIRECTIONS:
- Line a 9”x13” baking dish with parchment paper.
- Melt dark chocolate in the microwave. Pour into parchment lined baking dish and spread evenly, all the way to the edges. (Melt in increments of :30 seconds – you don’t want to overheat them!)
- Scatter crushed Oreos across melted chocolate.
- Melt white chocolate in a microwave. With a spoon or spatula, spread across the layer of Oreos, as evenly as you can.
- Sprinkle crushed candy canes evenly over top the white chocolate.
- Allow to cool completely. I usually put mine in the refrigerator for an hour or so (it helps speed up the process).
- Remove from pan, and break into desired sized pieces (this part can get messy and takes a little muscle so be careful!). I usually use a knife to stick in and help break up the pieces!
*A helpful tip that I have found is to put the Oreos and candy canes into large ziplock bags (separately) and use a rolling pin or a meat tenderizer (preferable one with a flat surface) to help crush them but be careful not to puncture the bag!
Enjoy!! Let me know if you end up making this recipe! I would love to hear how you liked it! Merry (almost) Christmas!
XOXO
