So I am going to go with a pretty strong assumption here that we all have jeans. If you don’t own a pair of jeans I need to know immediately what you’re wearing for bottoms every day. I think the only answer I would accept would be leggings, because what a life that would be!
But since most of us don’t live that extra comfy life, we most likely have 1 or more pairs of jeans. I would even go as far to say that we have at least 5 pairs of jeans in our closet! So I have thought about what are the 5 pairs of jeans we should own, and I have compiled the list below! Read on to see why if you only have 5 pairs of jeans, why each of these should have a spot in your closet!
I have also rounded up a bunch of great jeans so you have tons of different options picking up these 5 styles of jeans – from great finds to splurge. IMO – if you’re going to splurge on a pair, pick the ones you think you’ll get the most use out of – for me it would be my dark skinnies or black denim.
- Dark Skinny Jeans – I think absolutely everyone should own a pair of dark or medium wash jeans. If you’re on the hunt for new jeans…these should be the ones you pick up. They are great for your every day wear but can also be dressed up with a great blouse or statement jacket and some heels. Plus, if you get casual Fridays in the office, these will be your go to!
- Black Jeans – Black denim is a LIFE SAVER in my book!!! I work in a business-casual setting, so blue jeans are acceptable except for Friday. But no one says anything about black “jeans.” I get so much wear of my black jeans, they are pretty much my office uniform! If you work in the same kind of setting, do yourself a favor and pick up a pair of black denim! You will be so happy!! Also so great for an edgy all black look or to pair with a chambray top (plus the millions of other ways you can style black jeans).
- White Jeans – OK, I know I may be bold in saying everyone should have white jeans, but I really feel like everyone SHOULD! White after Labor Day is absolutely OK and I promise – if you have white denim in your closet, you will wear it! It looks great with tall boots and darker sweaters in the winter and so fun with bright colors or pastels in the Summer and Spring.
- Distressed Jeans – Distressed jeans are here to stay! I remember my first pair of distressed jeans…my mom actually hand distressed them! I’m pretty sure she used a cheese grater to get some good worn-in looks and splatter bleach everywhere. We were both so proud! Thankfully, there are dozens and dozens of distressed jeans out there, so you don’t have to DIY them. Unless you want to of course! 🙂 These are great to pair with casual outfits but I really love putting on a dressier top or sweater and pairing them with some booties or sandal heels!
- Statement Jeans – I’m sure you’re asking what are “statement jeans?” I would be too! I would classify them as maybe not your everyday wear kind of jeans…more of a certain outfit or special occasion. I would classify flared jeans, colored jeans, extra heavy distressing, embroidered jeans, etc. as “statement jeans.” It adds a nice fun touch to the wardrobe and I think you would be surprised at how much you reach for them! For colors I would look at gray, olive, or maroon! 🙂
