“The eyes are the nipples of the face.” House Bunny reference, anyone? Such a weird line, but kind of true, I guess?!?! lol The eyes are really something special, the draw people in and can totally change your look! I did a full tutorial on my Instagram for doing my eyes – hopefully, one day I’ll have a full video to post here! But you can visit @downtown_dani for now! It’s saved under the highlights.
The eyes are always where I spend the most time. I feel like my eye makeup is what really finishes off my look and gets my confidence going. Anyone else?
When I am doing my eyes, I pretty much always use:
- An eyeshadow palette with complimentary colors. I use at least 3 different colors. My favorite eyeshadow brands are Urban Decay and Tarte. They both of a ton more than what I am sharing, but these are my go to’s and absolute favorites that I would personally recommend (and yes I use them ALL):
-
- Naked Basics – this one is great if you don’t want to spend as much money but want some great neutral basics.
-
- Naked Basics 2 – If you like the Naked Basics, you’ll love this one as well! Love the more rose gold take on the colors!
-
- Naked – The OG! I got this when I was 20. I used it every single day until Naked 2 came out. And it is still a go-to for me! Such pretty colors.
-
- Naked 2 – I think this may be my favorite Naked palette. Beautiful everyday colors.
-
- Naked 3 – Wait, maybe this is my favorite? Seriously love the tons with this one!
-
- Naked Smokey Eye – Great for nights out or when you want to walk on the dark side! Beautiful colors!
-
- Naked Ultimate Basics – This is what I used for my tutorial! I loveee this palette!
-
- Tarte Clay Play – MY EVERYDAY eyeshadow! Use this basically every single day!
-
- Tarte Rainforest of the Sea – OMG, the prettiest shimmer eyeshadow. Great for special occasions or when you wanna kick it up a notch.
- Eyeshadow primer (usually just for long days or special events). My personal favorite is the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer.
- Eyeliner. Most days I use the liquid eyeliner pen from Revlon. It goes on so precise and doesn’t hurt or feel like you’re poking your eye at all. I also love the Marc Jacobs eyeliner for a smudgier look. For a softer smudged look, I use black eyeshadow.
- Mascara. My look is not complete without this of course! I usually use a few different kinds of Mascara. One that focuses on length and one that focuses on volume. I also use a mascara that is almost empty and use it as a primer! My favorite line in L’Oreal Voluminous. I have tried multiple different mascaras under this line and I love them all! My favorites are Butterfly Sculpt, Voluminous Original, and Super Star. I am also a huge fan of IT Cosmetics Superhero mascara.
- Eyebrow Pencil. Last but certainly not least – gotta make sure those brows are on-fleek 😉 I have used the Anastasia brow pencil and much of the Benefit brow line. Both are great. However, I usually stick to my L’Oreal eyebrow pencil. It is inexpensive. I can get multiple of these for the price of the Anastasia or Benefit and they last basically just as long!
