As we turn the page and begin a new chapter looking ahead to 2019, not only do I like to reflect on the past year, but also prepare and plan for the year ahead. I wanted to share with you what some of my goals for the next year will be and how I plan to reach them. I like to refrain from using the term “New Years Resolutions,” because resolutions are hardly ever seen through and usually given up on after the first month or two.
What I have been doing the past few years, is creating goals rather than resolutions. Long and short term. Usually, I have a few overarching goals that I would like to be consistent with throughout the year, some bigger goals that I would like to hit by the end of the year and other smaller goals to make the large ones seem more manageable and not so out of reach. I think we should always be focused on growing and working toward being the best version of ourselves – and with goals, we can do just that!
Here are some of the goals I have for 2019:
1. Continue to step outside my comfort zone. Starting this blog has been a huge step outside my comfort zone. However, in the past three weeks, I already feel like I am more confident! I am excited to connect with other bloggers in the area and around the country, learn more, and push myself. If you’re comfortable…you’re not growing! 🙂
2. Treat my body like a temple. We only get one body, and I hope mine will hold up for a long time…so I want to make sure I am taking care of it in the best way possible. I want to be very conscious of how I am treating my body, how I nourish my body, how I take care of my body and so much more. This is more than just a New Year’s resolution to work out more…let’s be real, those never hold up! There are multiple actions that I am going to work on so it becomes a lifestyle. A few years ago, I wanted to get very serious about my skincare routine. I used to be terrible at taking off my makeup and using the right products for my face. It was a goal of mine to make sure every night I went through my nighttime skin routine and that I had one for the morning too. This year will focus more on meal prepping and planning – first so we don’t waste money at the grocery store and second because it will limit the number of times we don’t know what we are doing for dinner and end up eating cereal or pizza. I also plan to be active in some way, whether that means working out or taking Zeke for a walk at least 4 times a week.
3. Keep a clean house. I might have some family or friends who will read this and laugh out loud. I have always had a hard time keeping things tidy. It’s something I lack motivation in and that is something I definitely want to change. I am going to start small and build upon it each month. I think the first change will be to make sure all our shoes are put away every day and not left out. The next will be to make sure my laundry is put away right after it is finished and not left in a pile to fold and hang up. (I am sorry – people are probably cringing reading this!!) Like I said, small actions that we can then build upon. I think “keeping a clean house” can seem overwhelming to someone it’s always been a challenge for. Building upon smaller actions seem much more doable and I believe will create good habits that are sustainable.
4. Grow this blog. This has been a dream of mine for a long time and it was my 2018 goal to start. Just getting out there and starting has been huge!! Now that I have done that, I want to better myself so I can continue bettering your experience! That means learning more about the backend of a website and possibly learning some coding. Also, I want to prepare loads of content so I am sharing the best with you guys and you are continuing to use this as a resource!
There are a ton of smaller goals that I have planned for each month of the year that will help me accomplish these larger ones. I hope this gave you some inspiration to set goals for yourself in 2019 or reassurance that you aren’t alone in what you are trying to achieve.
Let me know what goals you are hoping to achieve in 2019!
